The First Network has been rolled out across Sulhamstead Hill across to Church Lane, Middle Farm, Camp Road and to Englefield and White House Green. Within our areas we have connected and have active customers in over 50% of the housing stock. That completes Phase 1 of the Rollout. We intend to up the speed to 200Mb/s across this first network towards the back end of the year.
We now have a working circuit into Wises Firs and we are providing service. We are looking for houses to act as relay stations so we can cover all of Island Farm Road, Shortheath Lane and Wises Firs.
We are starting off with providing a 100Mb/s service shared across Wises Firs, Shortheath Lane and Island Farm Road. We intend to upgrade this to 200Mb/s at the same time as we increase the speed in Phase 1. This is a dedicated service that will provide a service that is significantly faster for each user than a 100Mb/s residential service provided by BT or Gigaclear.
Our next infrastructure Roll Out will be Sulhamstead Banister onto the water tower to serve this hamlet and to better serve White House Green.
West Berkshire Community Broadband was born out of a desperate need for better connectivity across the communities of Sulhamstead and Ufton Nervet including the School, Greens, Hamlets and isolated homes within the parish.
We are a business run on a not for profit basis by a team of volunteers which means all the money goes into providing a great service.
While we know that there is another high speed fibre solution coming to the main areas of the parish it is expensive.
We started off providing a 100Mb/s service shared across Sulhamstead Hill, Englefield, Church Lane and White House Green. We are now rolling out to Wises Firs and the surrounding areas. This is a dedicated service that will provide a service that is comparable or better for each user than a 100Mb/s residential service provided by BT or Gigaclear. As we rollout we will take more and higher speed feeds to ensure our network maintains its consistent very high speed at each resident's house.
